College is exciting, but let’s be honest—it’s not always easy. There will be times when classes feel overwhelming, when you’re struggling to balance everything, or when you just don’t know what to do next. The most important thing to remember? You don’t have to do it alone. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness—it’s a sign of strength.

Academic Support: Student Success Center & Business Communications Lab

The University of Arkansas has amazing resources to help you thrive. The Student Success Center is your go-to for all kinds of academic support, including tutoring, resume help, academic mentoring, and writing assistance. Whether you need help structuring an essay, understanding a tricky math concept, or figuring out your study habits, they’ve got your back.

For business students, the Business Communications Lab in the Walton College of Business is another game-changer. They offer guidance on business papers, help with subjects like finite math, and can assist you in strengthening your professional communication skills. Whether you’re prepping for a presentation or just need a second pair of eyes on a project, the Business Communications Lab is a valuable resource.

Mental Health: CAPS at Pat Walker Health Center

College isn’t just about academics—it’s about taking care of yourself, too. If you’re struggling emotionally, feeling overwhelmed, or just need someone to talk to, the CAPS Program (Counseling and Psychological Services) at Pat Walker Health Center is here to help. They offer therapy, counseling, and a variety of mental health workshops. The best part? Most of these services are included in your Student Health & Wellness Fee, so there’s no extra cost to get the help you need.

You’re Not Alone

It’s okay to admit when things aren’t going well, but it’s not okay to keep struggling without seeking help. There are people and resources dedicated to making sure you succeed, both academically and personally. Everything will fall into place, but when things get tough, don’t try to push through alone—reach out, ask for help, and know that support is always available.

I believe in you!
